Kippers, egg and toast for breakfast.....every once in a while I just gotta' have em.

Made a picture worthy dinner for Becky and myself but failed to get a picture of it. Trust me it looked very pretty as well as being pretty tasty.
Started with some tilapia fillets in a glass baking dish coated with olive oil, blacken seasoning on both sides then sprinkled the fish with a few finely chopped shallots and some broken up mushrooms. Then I put a pat of butter and a thin slice on lemon on top of each fillet. Some cherry tomatoes and a 1/2 cup of white wine then into the fridge for a while.
Treated some fresh asparagus much the same way, glass dish, olive oil, blacken seasonings but i sprinkled the asparagus with bread crumbs and Parmesan cheese.
Covered both and put them in a preheated 375 degree oven for 20 minutes, then uncovered them and cooked for another 10 minutes.
While they were cooking i made a Virgo New Orleans style rice packet to serve with it all.
Twas good eaten'.

Fairy Swap update

Well the work is almost done. All I have left to do is separate my little tags, attach them to the staffs, pack and ship.

This has been great fun and I'm really looking forward to getting my own Pixie Bag of goodies.

I also think I might be re-hooked on making Fairy items and several ideas have been floating around in my head as I worked on this project.

Pixie Bag

I'm afraid I'm going to have to forfeit my eligibility for the best Pixie Bag prize. As I said I don't sew well myself so I asked Becky to make it for me. She said it was fun and enjoyed working on it.

I was thinking about adding some Embellishments but didn't think that would be fair to Becky's work.

The rest of the walking staffs are coming along nicely and I'm thinking about expanding my line to backpacks and other travel items to trade with the local Fairy's.

A Fairy Went A-Marketing' Swap

A fairy went a walking
With her tiny staff of yew
As she left that morning
She thought she would walk
The whole day through

I've been working on my walking staffs for the Fairy Swap that my daughter got me interested in. Luckily our little friend still stops by once in awhile even though my daughter has grown and moved off to Indiana so I was able to get the size about right.

I have several in works in various states of completion.

and of course as always my little work space remains messy!!
I'm having great fun and can't wait to see what the swap brings me!!!

Made a nice chicken dinner last night. A little Kosher Salt and fresh ground pepper over the chicken breasts followed by a bottle of beer and into the the oven at 350 for about 45 minutes.
Then I pored off the beer and and dressed the chicken with some BBQ sauce and back into the oven for about another 20 to 25 minutes.
I served it with a sweet potato A BIG ONE, ten minutes in the microwave followed by a good long time in the oven with the chicken. The one was plenty for Becky and me.
For a green I i steamed some asparagus (I'm afraid I over cooked it just a bit but it still turned out pretty good) then into a skillet with some olive oil and a chopped tomato. Browned a bit then covered with Parmesan cheese and covered long enough for the cheese to melt.

Tasty!!!!

Flag Day 2009

Flag Day 2009

Liming the Macho Frens

Becky bring beers.

Becky and I had a rare day off together. She works Monday to Friday and I work retail, so there you go.
We spent the day doing good work in the yard. Cutting the lawn, trimming bushes and trees, cleaning the gutters, spreading lime over the macho ferns, and having a few beers.
I heard first thing this morning that it was flag day so I decided it was high time I got around to getting the holder for our flag put up.
I think it is important to fly the flag because this is my country just as much as any damn Rush Limbaugh's and they don't get to define my country!!
